Six Ways To Maximize Your Aveda Institute Tour
As a prospective student at an Aveda Institute, it is important to get the lay of the land … or school! A visit to your potential beauty school will allow you to meet your educators, ask questions and start preparing for your career in cosmetology, esthiology, massage or barbering.
“Touring an Aveda Institute is an exciting moment for a prospective student. It’s their first step towards their future,” says Victoria Sceia, Admissions Recruiter at Rizzieri Aveda School.
“Every Institute is different and unique, and each one has something special to offer,” says Rebekah Harris, Admissions Manager at Aveda Institute Birmingham. “When it comes to choosing the right beauty school for you, I believe that your perfect fit is out there—you just have to find it!”
What do the very best beauty schools offer? Bradley McDonald, Admissions Manager at Aveda Institute Covington, says, “Career assistance, marketing education, product knowledge, student contests and advanced education to challenge creativity.”
We asked Victoria, Rebekah and Bradley for their top tips to get the most out of your Aveda Institute tour experience.
1. Know what to expect on your cosmetology, esthiology, barbering or massage school tour.
R: When touring the Aveda Institute, you will be greeted by your Admissions Manager and welcomed into your campus’s “Dream Room,” a space to discuss your passion for beauty and plans for the future. We’ll help you identify your career goals and chart out a path to get you there.
B: As a prospective student, you will interact with the staff and students to get a feel of the energy on campus and Aveda culture. You’ll also be able to see your cosmetology school supply kit and get started with financial assistance. Be sure to check out your application checklist—it has everything you will need when you are ready to apply.
2. Come prepared to get enrollment started.
R: You can get a jump start on the enrollment process by bringing a few things with you to your tour.
Please bring your ID, high school diploma or GED, Social Security card, birth certificate, and tax information from the past two years. This will allow us to maximize your first visit, including helping you submit your financial aid applications. You’re also welcome to bring a parent, mentor, guardian or friend with you to your campus visit.
3. Ask questions about anything and everything related to learning cosmetology, esthiology, massage or barbering at the Aveda Institute.
R: We encourage you to ask anything on your mind! We want to make sure that our program has everything you need to pursue your dream career after graduation.
V: There are quite a few questions a prospective student can ask. Questions to ask admissions include: What does the curriculum entail for a program? What does the schedule look like? What are my career opportunities after graduation? Do you assist with getting licensed in the industry? Do you offer financial aid? Do you offer additional classes to further my education in the field?
4. Maximize a virtual tour of the Aveda Institute.
V: Here at Rizzieri Aveda School, we are conducting our tours virtually through Zoom. Our goal is for prospective students to receive an informative tour while providing the same welcoming feeling they would have in person. Prospective students are given an interactive walk-through tour of the campus while learning about the programs. A Q&A session at the end of the virtual tour allows them to ask any questions they have.
R: My advice when taking a virtual tour is to look at our social media before your appointment time. Visual perception is a big part of how we interpret the world around us, and checking out our Instagram, Facebook and TikTok accounts can help fill in some of the visual pieces that are missing from a virtual tour. You may also see something that sparks your interest or curiosity that you can ask to hear more about during your virtual tour.
5. Follow up after your tour.
R: Once you’ve decided that an Aveda Institute is the right fit for you, I would advise a “full speed ahead” approach to the admissions process. Our classes are in high demand and fill up quickly, so you’ll want to complete your application checklist as quickly as you can so we can register you for classes and guarantee a start date that works best for you.
6. Be yourself. Your cosmetology, barbering, esthiology or massage school experience is crucial to YOUR career success.
V: Never give up on your dreams. Come with an open mind and absorb all the information that you can.
B: Always be kind. The beauty industry is its own universe and your paths may often cross again. Be authentic—there is no one just like you.
R: Lastly—be bold, be yourself and never stop sharing what you love to do.
