Tessa Spivey

Tessa has been a licensed cosmetologist since 2014, starting her career offering a variety of services, including nails and waxing. Over time, her passion for the hair industry, especially barbering and cutting, took center stage. After building her clientele as an independent contractor in Southern Oregon, she moved to Portland in 2017 to hone her craft further. As an instructor, Tessa is driven by the joy of helping students connect the dots—from mastering the basics of holding their shears to developing innovative techniques on their own. She finds inspiration in witnessing students grow into confident, creative professionals. In addition to teaching, Tessa is an accomplished painter and proud cat mom specializing in pet portraits, blending her love of color theory and artistry on both hair and canvas.
